He was a retired Walgreen's pharmacist and an active member of Longview Heights Baptist Church, an Air Force veteran, former reserve deputy with Shelby County Sheriff's Department, volunteer EMT with Olive Branch Ambulance Service; member of the Board of Adjustment with the city of Olive Branch. Wells leaves his wife, Carol J. Wells; daughter, Donna Wells Ben (Timothy), Philadelphia; step-daughter, Robin Lynn Warner (Mark), Hernando; son, Fred P. (Tripp) Wells III, Olive Branch; step-son, Rodney Lee Lincoln (Patty), Starkville; sisters, Pat Watkins (Keith), Jan Burcham, all of Memphis; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Holcomb died June 15 at Charlton Methodist Hospital, Dallas, Texas. He was born February 16, 1941 in New Albany. He was a member of Getwell Road United Methodist Church, Southaven and was a retired teamster for Local #667. He leaves his wife, of 48 years, Betty Mayhew Holcomb, Southaven; three daughters, Leslie Curran (Glenn) and their son, John, Cedar Hill, Texas, Libby Ullo (Greg) and their children, Danny and Abby, St. Louis, Mo., and Lori Stone (Glenn), Hernando; one sister, Darlene Posey (Sam), Memphis, Tenn.; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Holcomb and Edna Swords Lambert; and one brother, Jim Holcomb.
