Music and Heritage Festival cookoff trophies awarded

HERNANDO — Where there’s smoke, there’s fire — and plenty of smiles and high-fives, too.
Winners were named at the Sixth Annual Hernando Music and Heritage Festival Barbecue Cooking Contest.
The annual barbecue contest is sponsored by the DeSoto Times-Tribune.
Winners were announced Saturday night on the Hernando Music and Heritage Festival main stage.
The PMC Land Hogs were crowned the Grand Champion of the 2008 barbecue cookoff.
PMC also took first place in the ribs category, second place in poultry, second place in seafood, and third place in beef.
Other winners are:
•Killer Hogs, who won first place in seafood and third place in poultry.
•Deep in the Sauce, who claimed the first place title in poultry.
•Killer Hogs, who won first place in beef.
•Dancin Pigs, who won first place in shoulder and second place in beef.
•Smoker and The Bandits who claimed second place in ribs.
•Killer Hogs who won second place in shoulder.
•Psychotic Friends Network who placed third in seafood.
